How much TRX the TRON network burns on USDT fees

Updated 1 November 2026. Figures checked on TRON mainnet transactions and network parameters.

Short answer

About 1.7 million TRX a day, or about $520,000. This is our own count from TRON blocks. It covers only TRX burned for energy on USDT transfers.

What we countedResult
TRX burned per day, 4 October to 1 November 2026, every 100th block1,675,933
TRX burned per day, 28 October 2026, every 5th block1,691,567
Addresses that burned TRX that day (at least)28,318
Addresses that sent USDT that day (at least)221,750
Share of senders that burned TRX13%

Who burns it

Mostly small senders. Addresses with an estimated 5–19 burning transfers a day burned about 69% of the total: 27,429 addresses, 1,164,878 TRX.

The 8 biggest, with an estimated 500 or more a day, burned about 13%: 225,274 TRX. We read every fifth block and multiplied by five, so a small sender's real count can be lower or higher.

Why TRX gets burned

A USDT transfer needs energy. If the address has none, the network burns TRX instead: 6.43 TRX, or 13.03 TRX if the recipient has never had USDT.

How we counted

We read blocks through TronGrid, took the USDT transfers and added up the energy_fee field in each receipt. Then we scaled the sample up to a full day. The first row of the table updates once a month.

What these numbers don't show

This is a sample, not a full count, and one day can be unusual. Fees for bandwidth aren't included. Burning isn't always a mistake: if you send USDT rarely, the saving is small.

Who counted this

We sell TRON energy, so we gain when people burn less. Cheaper sellers exist. To see your own address, use the calculator.
