What is USDT TRC20

Updated 26 October 2026. Figures checked on TRON mainnet transactions and network parameters.

Short answer

USDT TRC20 is the Tether stablecoin issued on the TRON blockchain under the TRC-20 token standard. On 27 October 2026 the TRON contract held 94.25 billion USDT, more than Ethereum (88.30 billion). It is the same dollar token as on other networks; what differs is the address format and the fee, which on TRON is paid with energy or by burning TRX.

TRC20, ERC20 and BEP20

They are the same USDT on different blockchains, and they do not mix: a transfer has to go to an address on the same network. Exchanges ask you to choose the network on withdrawal; choosing TRC20 means the money arrives on a TRON address. Sending to the wrong network usually means the money is stuck and recovery is up to the exchange.

What a USDT TRC20 address looks like

A TRON address starts with T and is 34 characters long. The same address holds TRX and USDT. The official USDT contract on TRON is TR7NHqjeKQxGTCi8q8ZY4pL8otSzgjLj6t: tokens with the name USDT but another contract are fakes, often sent out for free to make an address look valuable.

What a transfer costs

A transfer uses 64,285 energy, or 130,285 if the recipient has never held USDT. Without energy the network burns 6.43 TRX or 13.03 TRX instead. By our sample of every 50th and 100th block from 26 September to 26 October 2026, plain USDT transfers burn about 1.6 million TRX a day across the network. Ways to pay less are in the USDT fee guide.
