USDT TRC20 transfer fee in 2026, and how to pay less
Updated 26 October 2026. Figures checked on TRON mainnet transactions and network parameters.
Short answer
A USDT transfer on TRON costs 6.43 TRX ($2.13) if the sending address has no energy and the recipient already holds USDT, and 13.03 TRX ($4.31) if the recipient has never held USDT. With energy on the sending address, the same transfer costs what you paid for that energy: about 1.29 TRX ($0.43) when rented for an hour at 20 sun per unit, a typical price on the cheapest markets in October 2026.
| Transfer | Energy | Burned, no energy | With our energy |
|---|---|---|---|
| To an address that holds USDT | 64,285 | 6.43 TRX $2.13 | 2.51 TRX $0.83 |
| To an address with no USDT | 130,285 | 13.03 TRX $4.31 | 5.08 TRX $1.68 |
Why TRON burns TRX on every transfer
USDT on TRON is a smart contract. Calling it costs energy (computation) and bandwidth (transaction size).
A transfer to an address that already holds USDT needs 64,285 energy; to an address without USDT, 130,285, because the contract has to create a new balance record.
If the sender has no energy, the network burns TRX instead, at a fixed 100 sun (0.0001 TRX) per unit. The rate is a network parameter (getEnergyFee) and is the same for everyone.
Bandwidth is about 345 units per transfer. Every account gets a free daily allowance, enough for about one transfer; after that it costs about 0.345 TRX.
Four ways to pay less
1. Stake TRX for energy
Staked TRX gives energy that refills every day. At network parameters on 26 Oct 2026, one staked TRX gives about 9.7 energy a day, so one transfer a day needs about 6,600 TRX locked ($2,183). Unstaking takes 14 days. Makes sense if you hold TRX anyway.
2. Rent energy for an hour
Energy markets delegate energy to your address for an hour or a few minutes. On 27 Oct 2026 the cheapest of them charged 16–24 sun per unit for an hour, 1.0–1.5 TRX per transfer. Someone has to place an order before each batch, what is left is taken back when the time runs out, and the wallet’s fee limit has to be at least 7 TRX.
3. Buy from a service
Quietfee sells energy for an hour in packages of 1 to 100 transfers, or keeps it on your addresses, at 39 sun per unit (2.51 TRX per transfer). That is more than the cheapest markets: in return you need no account on an energy market, and always-on energy needs no orders at all. Check how much your address would save.
4. Prefer recipients who already hold USDT
Sending to an address without USDT costs twice the energy. For transfers between your own wallets, keep a small USDT balance on each.
What it costs per month
| Transfers a day | Burned now | With our energy | Stays with you |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | $638 | $249 | $389 |
| 100 | $6,380 | $2,488 | $3,892 |
| 1,000 | $63,796 | $24,881 | $38,916 |
100 sun per energy unit when burned, 39 sun with us, TRX at $0.3308 (26 Oct 2026). Bandwidth not included: every account gets a small free daily allowance, enough for about one transfer.
How we measured
Per-transfer energy and burned TRX come from mainnet transactions (example: b4b2c157…2874f8). Staking yield is TotalEnergyLimit divided by TotalEnergyWeight from getaccountresource. Network-wide burn (about 1,608,041 TRX a day on plain USDT transfers) is our sample of every 50th and 100th block from 26 September to 26 October 2026. TRX price from CoinGecko.
